You did the absolute right thing Jeff! I think as citizens we have a duty to engage in politics -- with rigourosity, conviction and a willingness to self-correct always.

Thank you Julio, I appreciate that. I agree that it is a duty.

This is a perfect example of not forcing yourself to be a political person but letting it come naturally. I think it is probably beneficial for young people to think politics are “stupid and pointless” at first, because it takes time to develop actual values and to test those values - rather than jumping straight into a stance that is “cool and trendy.”

Thank you for sharing the truth when seeing something you disagree with. Most would continue running by. And even though you feel you may not have handled it the best you could have, this is exactly what we need more of in the world - calling each others BS out. It’s helpful for you, them, America and the world.

Excellently said brother. I appreciate this and agree. Thank you.

This resonates with me Jeff. I too am a lover of history and I’ve ignored politics for most of my life. I’ve never been a particularly responsible person.

I too have opinions, but I don’t always understand the political landscape, so often times I can’t articulate them or they don’t hold water.

Recently I’ve realized I need to start learning and paying attention to this unavoidable aspect of the human condition.

This was a great read brother: hil-ar-ious, too. Where's the photo from? It's beautiful and I'm guessing Italy with all that Spritz. I too have avoid politics in the way you described and really appreciate this insight.

Baxter! Thank you brother. I'm glad to know you appreciated it. I am not sure where the photo is taken, but it is beautiful isn't it? Italy sounds right.

One thing I got from Philosophy 101 was that Socrates was characterized as something like, "the annoying gadfly harassing the stubborn old donkey fixed in it's ways, basically forcing the donkey to swat the new ideas away (cognitive dissonance) but stimulating the lazy old mule to think for a second and question it's ideas about what is true and what is reality. " anyways I loved your post, because whenever I run past Jehovah's Witnesses or other groups with signs etc. I often proclaim, "it's a cult!" Or "You are living a lie!", because maybe I can plant a seed in their minds that will break through the echo chamber...

Hello Troy. I have never heard Socrates characterized as that, that is interesting. Thank you for sharing!

Maybe my philosophy teacher was high on the marijuana again? Lol still makes sense to me because he was always asking "annoying" questions to the people in Athens who thought they "already knew everything" like, "yeah it's a beautiful shield...but why? What is beauty anyways? A beautiful girl...a beautifully worded phrase... a beautiful battle strategy executed...what are the connecting truths to all of these that is the essential essence of beauty? Or is it just relativistic opinion?"

I guess that's what I got out of it...

Anyways, I am inspired by folks like you and Julio Froment and My First Million Podcast and Naval Ravikant and all that jazz. Keep at it man with the blogging and email list.

I want to be more of a digital producer as well! Goals!
