Here’s a three-pointer to open your mind.
The mission of “Three Pointers” & about the author here
What’s Going On? Why?
I have no special talent. I am only passionately curious.
—Albert Einstein
Cu-ri-os-i-ty (noun) a strong desire to know or learn something
Does this all seem weird to you? I don’t understand how it couldn’t. Why are we here? Where is God? Is God real? What is God?
Are we in a simulation? Who or what could make a simulation this real?
What will the internet be like in 100 years?
How cyborg-like will humans become? Are we going to be able to upload our brains onto a computer? Will that brain on the computer still really be us if that happens?
Will artificial intelligence kill us all terminator or matrix or Ex Machina style?
How is outer space infinite? Is the multiverse real?
Where are the aliens? Are there even aliens? Would they be able to talk to us? Or would it be like us trying to communicate with ants?
How corrupt are governments and intelligence agencies? What conspiracy theories are roughly accurate?
How powerful are big bankers and wall street people? Will Bitcoin succeed long-term?
Did we actually evolve from apes thanks to psychedelics? Dinosaurs were a real thing? What level of consciousness do animals have?
How do we even have thoughts?
Of course, I don't have answers to any of these questions. But that doesn’t mean I’ll stop exploring them.
You should explore whatever strange questions you have too. Pursuing whatever you're curious about is fun.
Ask Questions
The sign of intelligence is that you are constantly wondering. Idiots are always dead sure about every damn thing they are doing in their life.
―Sadhguru
I’m no genius. That’s for sure. I know little. I’ve made many bad decisions in my life.
But I am curious.
It seems like it’s always the biggest fools who don’t see existence as in and of itself strange.
Who are certain of everything they say and do. Who have all the answers. Who will stop at nothing to ‘win’ arguments with no definite answer. Who are trapped in their own perception of reality. Who never consider other perspectives. Who never question their own beliefs.
Bozos.
Why Asking Questions Is Important
People should pursue what they're passionate about. That will make them happier than pretty much anything else.
—Elon Musk
There’s an idea from Naval Ravikant that the most important question in life is not ‘How do I get what I want?’ but ‘What do I want?’
What you want is something that excites you. Excitement is what your curious about. Whatever you're curious about is your passion.
How many people do you know older than you who are miserable? Who only complain about their jobs? Whose day-to-day is soul-crushing?
That’s people whose daily routine is meaningless to them. Because they aren’t curious or passionate about what they do.
Pause before you work like a maniac for random goals society said you should want.
Stop and think.
Consider what you actually care about.
Be ruthless about expressing what you want to do with your one life. Again, your 1 (!) life.
I’m lucky to already know that it’s writing weird articles like this. But that’s only because I spent the last 2 years in a daily crisis of trying to figure out what I’m going to do after college.
Stay curious.
Love this perspective, Jeff. Thank you for sharing.
Another great article! I'm looking forward to the next article.
