I think you're exactly right, the whole art of living is how to stay drunk without the alcohol, which as you point out, requires knowing oneself at a deeper level and having the courage to feed one's own ecstasy by taking actions that are aligned with essence and purpose. I love your humorous reminder its legal to not drink in public. It's the unwritten rules of our culture that imprison us more than the written ones.

Hi Rick, I love that phrase you used "how to stay drunk without alcohol." That is a beautiful line. I couldn't agree more. Thank you as always for the engagement. Wishing you a good week!

The new high becomes waking up on Sunday feeling like a normal human being ready to go about their day... can't beat that.

I think I dictated this essay to you while we were at Spoke a time or two haha. As much as I mean every word, a smile still comes to my face remembering some of the madness at school that was greatly enhanced by enjoying some drinks.

Alcohol is a shortcut to alleviating anxiety. Managing our emotions and regulating anxiety properly is of course the right answer but given how addicted we are to instant gratification and how averse we are to introspection and self-awareness; alcohol will always be an appealing option for most.

That is a good point, and one part of why it was appealing to me for so long. Introspection and self-awareness, though the more difficult path to alleviating anxiety, is ultimately much more healthy and rewarding.
