To Three Pointers VIPs,
I was in San Diego and Los Angeles last week helping my brother Pat move.
People have been criticizing the golden state more than ever recently. Why?
Well, the homeless problem in LA. The zombie apocalypse thing in SF. The tyrannical Kings in Sacramento. The whole dangerously incompetent leaders thing. The whole me ripping up dance floors with a pack of Marines in San Diego during Spring Break ‘22 controversy.
Which all are valid criticisms!
But how foolish could you be to forget the terrible beauty of this place? And that it’s in the top 10 of world economies, contributing more to the wealth of our nation than any other state? That the bold entrepreneurs and tech geniuses of Silicon Valley create and distribute magical products that we use and enjoy every single day? That so many really good songs have California in the name? That the cultural machine of Hollywood generates the majority of movies and shows that you love so dearly?
It was my fourth time in Cali. Every time I’m there I’m shocked that it’s real. The wavy palm trees and the pristine beaches and the gorgeous California gurls and the chill surf bros and the dry salty air and the opulent neighborhoods and the tasty authentic Mexican food and the light in some people’s eyes, it’s all real.
Does all that make up for the tragedies happening in this state? No. But considering how often people try to dunk on the place, I wanted to Dikembe Mutombo some of that trash.
California is awesome.
Anyways. (Joker voice) And. Here. We. Go…

Chopping It Up With GPT-4
My friend Gucci has been using GPT-4 for a while. He’d been raving about how helpful it had been to him for his job and in general. It’s $20/month so I was like eh.
But then I thought, imagine saying “eh” to one of the most advanced forms of something that is a fire/printing press/internet level technology?
I upgraded to GPT-4 recently and have been loving it. Its responses to my prompts are more accurate and comprehensive in general than GPT-3.5, and definitely more so than Google’s Bard, at-least in my experience.
It’s a phenomenal research tool. An autodidact’s best friend! A serial question-asker’s best friend. You learn so much using it. Think you’ve been down rabbit holes before? Think again. “Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”1
“The 3 Most Powerful Forces In The World”
I’ve been using the new voice messaging app Airchat every day. Someone I enjoy talking to on there is Tim Parsa, a founder and investor.
He was recently talking about what he called the three most powerful forces in the world: the Sun, the moon, and female beauty. It might sound funny but there’s some truth in this. Just consider how much better a gorgeous woman gets treated in literally any situation. The effect she has on every room she walks into. The way she can paralyze people and make them forget how to speak while their knees wobble.
Never mind the reality that the overwhelming beauty of women is the main reason men do things. It’s not an exaggeration to say that almost everything guys do is part of an elaborate scheme to get laid. Which is not to say, for example, that guys don’t enjoy earning money, becoming stronger, or acquiring knowledge inherently. But on some very deep level, these pursuits are mating displays. The primal monkey mind is hoping to send reliable signals to women that say: I have resource, I strong, I not stupid like other, me worth for sex. “One theory is that civilization exists to decide who gets to mate.”2
